A Chairde Laighean,

Comhairle Laighean – the Leinster Council operates under the auspices of Irish Dancing’s ruling body, An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha, based in Dublin, Ireland. It consists of registered teachers and lay members elected from within the Region. See the Council page for a list of current members and their roles.

The Council’s primary task is to preserve and promote Irish Dancing, including step dancing, céili dancing and other team dancing, and also to promote the use of the Irish language. On a practical level, we are responsible for providing a structure within which Irish dancing operates in Leinster.

Importantly, the Council provides a voice for the Region’s teachers and dancers by sending representatives to regular An Coimisiún meetings. The Leinster Council also organises and runs Oireachtas Rince Laighean every year as well as regular grade exams.

This website is intended to be a central source of information for everyone involved in Irish dancing in Leinster, including dancers and their families, registered dance teachers and adjudicators, and anyone else with an interest in Irish dancing.

Welcome!

On behalf of Comhairle Laighean,

Owen Joe McAuley
Comhairle Laighean CLRG
Chairperson – Cathaoirleach
